This week is the Vancouver International Improv Festival. It starts on Tuesday with a discussion forum at 5 and a set of free performances afterwards at 8 and 9:30. Daily shows happen till Saturday, and the weekend has a series of workshops from beginner to pro levels.
I saw an improv show here a little while ago when Alex Wlasenko came into town. It was Instant Theatre, who are involved in the running of the fest. They were just 2 players, but they put together a varied set: first half short-form improv games, second half as one long-form scene. It was all quite funny. Other then that I am unfamiliar with the other acts. Most of their intarweb profiles look pretty cool though.

Hey, just moved to Vancouver. I'm an aspiring voice actor, and I'd really love to get in on some improv. Any suggestions? Openings? How the hell does this work...

I'd suggest you check out the Theatre Sports league. They're a Vancouver improv institution and run workshops and shows regularly.
